Tallapoosa Volunteer Opportunities

  • Alexander City Parks & Recreation: Volunteers plan activities of daily routines and major events sponsored by the park.

  • Alexander City Veterans Honor Guard: Volunteers honor vets at funerals and special events.

  • American Legion: Volunteers honor vets at special events, help in community needs, work with vet benefits, Bill Nichols Veterans Home, do speaking engagements about veterans.

  • Bill Nichols Veterans Home: Volunteers assist residents playing Bingo, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and make friendly visits, and assist with crafts including painting.

  • Camp Hill Senior Center Home Meals: Volunteers help with package meals for homebound seniors.

  • Charles Porch Senior Center Home Meals: Volunteers help with package meals for homebound seniors.

  • Happy Hands: Volunteers within Hillabee Towers Complex. Volunteers work together doing an assortment of projects from crafts, baking biscuits, early childhood education projects to wheel chair bags and lap blankets.

  • Lake Martin Community Hospital Auxiliary: Volunteers greet visitors and provide assistance with directions. Volunteers host the surgery waiting room.

  • Meals on Wheels: Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to the sick and shut in.

  • New Adka Development Center: Center for seniors to learn about health, nutrition, Medicare tips.

  • Newsite Enrichment Society: Homebound meals are delivered to seniors in the Newsite Community.

  • Russell Medical Center: Volunteers perform front desk duties. They direct visitors and patients to proper places. They provide wheelchair transports, deliver mail and flowers. They work in waiting rooms and staff the sign in desk at the outpatient area.

  • Salvation Army: Various assignments available, including working in the clothes closet and ringing the bell during the holiday season.

  • Tallapoosa County Christian Crisis Center: Services are provided for at risk families.

  • Tallapoosa Crisis Center Food Pantry: volunteers stock shelves, empty trucks and boxes of donated food, do intake forms.

  • Tallapoosa County Schools: interested in volunteers who will tutor children in reading. Some opportunity to assist teachers with special needs children. There are also opportunities to assist teachers.

  • Tallapoosa Fishes and Loaves: volunteers stock shelves, empty trucks, set up distribution lines, do intake forms.
